July 2012

My Mother, Colleen, Alex, and I went to my sisters the day after July 4th.  We spent the afternoon with them.  The next day we went down to Surfside to spend the day with my cousin Ethan and his family.  Aunt Pam went down that day, too.  We had the best time!  Here are some pics.

He passed out as soon as he finished his ice cream.  :)

House Fix-Up Part 2

The next big project was the kitchen.  The walls were covered in off white wallpaper with gold streaked through it.  We wanted a little more color.  While we were taking down the old wallpaper, we discovered there was another layer of Williamsburg Blue wallpaper underneath.  UGH!!!  When we were trying to take this one down, it was taking the dry wall off too.  Oh My Goodness!!!  I was cursing whoever came up with wallpaper.  Long story short, I had to use drywall mud all over the wall.  It took a lot longer than expected to fix all those spots.  But, the end result was well worth it.  We also put down some new flooring.  Here are some pics of the process.

You can kinda see the blue to the right of the wall.

It's still a work in progress.  We have a few more things left to do.  What do you think?

House Fix-Up Part 1

We're getting the house ready for a Wedding Shower for Brian's cousin.  That's why I haven't posted anything in FOREVER.  Any way, we started with new Deck Furniture.  We found some ideas on pinterest.  I have been looking at pinterest for a while and found some DIY deck furniture made out of pallets.  I showed it to Brian and he took it from there.  This is what we came up with and it took us all weekend.

Mother's Day

My Sweet Baby  and Loving Husband were so wonderful for Mother's Day.  I woke up to two presents, Beauty and the Beast Blu-Ray and a beautifully hand painted silver charger.

Around lunch time we went over to the In-Law's.  Kim and I spent the afternoon relaxing while the guys took care of our every need.  Brian cooked dinner for us too.  I had homemade Chicken Parmesan and Kim had steak.  The food was unbelievable.  Before we left  Kim and Dean gave me a beautiful quilt that had slots for pictures sewn in.  Of course I cried.  There were all kind of pictures in it already of me and Alex.  Pictures from when Alex was a baby all the way to now.  I loved it!!!

I loved everything!!! How was your Mother's Day?

Anniversary Trip / Cinco de Mayo

As most of you know, our anniversary is the same day as Cinco de Mayo.  We spent our anniversary weekend in Gatlinburg.  We discovered Ole Smokey Moonshine.  They had some of the most awesome wine and moonshine.

We also wen to Ripley's Believe It or Not Aquarium.  There were some of the most beautiful salt water fish and creepy crawlies or I guess they would be called creepy swimmers :).  Unfortunately, my camera died before I could take any pictures of these really neat fish.  I did , however, get one picture of the two of us together before we went in.

He looks so Happy doesn't he?

Any way, our hotel was right on the river.

We had such a relaxing trip.  We missed our baby but, we didn't want to come back so soon.

Boiled Peanuts

My hubby brought some raw peanuts home tonight to make some boiled peanuts.  Right now, my house smells like Grandmas.

Grandma used to make boiled peanuts at her house all the time.  Her house is surrounded by fields on three sides and some years the farmer would plant peanuts and tell Grandma to get what she wanted.  I cannot tell you how much I loved those summers.  We would walk in and the whole house had that salty smell and you just knew... Grandma was making boiled peanuts.  They were awesome!

I just told my husband that my house smells like Grandma's.  Which make me feel closer to them.  Who knows?  Maybe She'll make some when we go down this summer.
